Why is CDS donationwareware?

ATC Sqns are run by dedicated individuals, usually on a shoe string.

I am aware of other ATC Database programs costing £60 or more - personally I think this is excessive. Some programs also require 3rd party software such as Microsoft Access in order to function. This is a "hidden" cost which increases a Sqns expenditure for their database solution.

CDS is free and requires no supporting software, which allows Sqns to focus funds on running the Sqn and Cadet activities.

I did originally charged £15 for CDS - but this was to provide money to purchase a mini bus for 296 Sqn. No member of 296 Sqn pocketed any money from CDS.

The mini bus project is now complete and I have decided to give away CDS.

However, if CDS is useful to you, you are invited to contribute to the 296 Sqn fund where the money will be used to directly support Cadet activities.

You can contribute any amount that you feel the program is worth - please make cheque payable to "296 (Stoke Newington) Sqn ATC" and send to:

The Cadets and I thank you in advance if you decide to donate.

Freeware CDS - Microsoft Access version

I wrote a Microsoft Access version of CDS some years ago - but I abandoned the project as Access must be present on the users machine for the database to function. This limits the overall penetration and usefulness of the database.

I have placed the Access version of CDS in the public domain, and you can download a copy from here.
